Downtown Dubai is the central business and lifestyle district that grew up around the Burj Khalifa between 2003 and 2010. The area is a tight grid of mostly residential and hotel towers — Burj Vista, The Address Downtown, Boulevard Heights, Burj Royale, the Old Town district at the foot of the tower — most of them designed with floor-to-ceiling glass and a Burj Khalifa or Dubai Fountain view as the primary architectural feature.
